Apple-Peach-Plum Sauce

When your apples and other fruit start to get too soft for eating, don’t waste it!  Peel it and throw it into a pot and add a bit of water so the fruit doesn’t stick to the pan.  Simmer until the fruit starts to get soft and then puree it in a blender.  Stir in cinnamon and serve.

Today I had 5 apples, 2 plums and 3 peaches that needed to be eaten or cooked.  It made almost 3 cups.

If you’re looking for a chunky sauce, see this post.

Now I have 3 desserts ready to pack for my lunch next week.  Yum.

Peach Crisp in a Jar

IMG_0352

I saw this idea on Pinterest.  You can use your favorite fruit crisp or cobbler recipe.  I made Peach Crisp since I had peaches that I canned last fall from our tree.  It was hard not eating the peaches right out of the jar.  My recipe said it served 6, so I used 6 8-ounce jelly canning jars.  Spray your jars inside with non-stick cooking spray.  Divide your recipe among your jars and bake for the length of time your recipe calls for.  (I put all the jars on a baking sheet).

The recipe filled the jars to the top, but they will cook down quite a bit.  Mine ended up being half full after baking.  Perfect for adding a scoop of ice cream or whipped topping.  For apple crisp, add a drizzle of caramel, too.  Lots of possibilities.  I plan to give several of these for gifts, but this would also make an awesome dessert for guests.
